A small rechargeable battery powers them, and most give you four heat settings, from about 90°F on low to 135°F on high. How long do heated socks last on one charge?

Run time depends on the heat setting, usually up to 11 hours on low and about 3 to 4 hours on high, since heated socks use a smaller 3.7-volt battery. The easiest way to stretch a charge is to turn the heat down once your feet feel warm, then bump it back up if the cold creeps in. Carrying a spare battery pack is smart for all-day cold. If you would rather heat your boots than your feet, heated insoles are the other option. Charging the night before means you start with a full tank.

Can you wash heated socks?

Yes, but always remove the battery first, then hand wash or use a gentle cycle inside a mesh laundry bag.
