Western New York, including Buffalo, is one the snowiest areas in the US, renowned for getting lake effect snow measured in feet, not inches.  Late-season games being played in whiteout conditions are a common occurrence.   

Then you have Highmark Stadium, the stomping grounds for the Buffalo Bills and their dedicated fanbase. Built as an open-air stadium, it exposes players and fans to unpredictably harsh weather.
